Buenos Aires, Argentina
In this 3 hour tour we will visit some of the most iconic places in Buenos Aires while learning about how locals live, trying the national infusión from Argentina “Mate”, learning how to use the public transportation by taking the subway, having a delicious “Chocolate con churros” (its speciality) at the Tortoni Café, and last but not least it is important to let you know that we will have a lot of fun! ;)
These are the places we will be visiting:
Recoleta Cemetery (Recoleta)
It was the first public cemetery in the city, today is the most elegant and aristocratic. In its almost six hectares, National heroes, presidents, politicians, military men, scientists, artists, and celebrities are buried.
Intendente Alvear Square (know as Plaza Francia) (Recoleta)
La Biela Coffee Shop (Recoleta)
Iglesia del Pilar (Church)
El Ateneo Grand Splendid
Chosen like the second most beautiful bookstore in the World.
La vereda del Tango
The 8 basic steps of Tango drawn in a sidewalk.
Then we take the subway and we head to:
Plaza de Mayo Square
It is the oldest square in Buenos Aires . It is surrounded by historical and governmental buildings, such as the Cabildo, the Casa Rosada (National Government seat,) the Palace of the Government of Buenos Aires, banks, and ministries.
The Obelisk (Monserrat):
The "Obelisco" reminds in each of its faces a historical "porteño" fact: the first foundation, in 1536; the second and definitive, in 1580; the first time the National flag was raised in the city, in 1812 (in the church of San Nicolás, which was raised precisely where nowadays the "Obelisco" stands); and the constitution of Buenos Aires as the Argentine capital in 1880.
Tortoni Coffee Shop
It is the oldest café in the city. The marble and wooden tables, the old pictures on its walls, the traditional menu, the waiters, and the customers turned it into the archetype of the bar in Buenos Aires-
I love this coffee shop environment, but what I love the most is its specialty: “Chocolate espeso caliente con churros”,
