About this experience

Historical San Isidro - stories of cobblestone streets and lanterns

Visiting one of the oldest residential areas of the borough, the circuits start at the front atrium of San Isidro Cathedral, a catholic temple in neogothic style, built at the end of 19th century.

Once we cross the street we face the main square, called Mitre Square, built on two levels on a slope. Opposite to square is the Municipal block, where the old constructions of varied architectural styles can be appreciated.
Later on, after sharing some details about the Cathedral we walk East to visit the houses and estates which belonged to the aristocratic families of Buenos Aires.
Stands out among the others, Quinta Los Ombúes, the Municipal Museum and Local historical Archive, since 2005. Near the place, the viewpoint of Los 3 Ombúes, with an enviable panoramic view of the Rio de la Plata.
At last but not least, three iconic houses with their own history and particular features.

My name is Diego and I´ve been living in the northern area of Buenos Aires since I was a toddler. Their sidewalks, noises, and fragrances are closely linked to my childhood and youth.
One of this beloved places is the suburban district of San Isidro, situated 22 km far away from Buenos Aires downtown.
